The idea behind the project was to create a visual identity for an organization that provides assistance to individuals with mental health problems. Breathe is a fictional organization that offers support to people affected by mental illnesses through in-person and virtual channels, aiming to reach a larger number of individuals. While researching mental health statistics in Croatia, I discovered that one in ten people in Croatia suffers from mental difficulties such as depression, anxiety, and similar conditions.
The name "Breathe" is inspired by the feeling of freedom and relief after taking a breath during suffocation or lack of air. This name is seen as a symbol of mental illnesses that gradually pressurize individuals more and more, like a burden that can suffocate and ultimately take the life of the person affected.
In the Breathe logo, the letter "B" symbolizes the aforementioned statistics. The symbol consists of ten "dots," with one dot separated, creating the final appearance and an empty space within the letter "b". This specific dot represents an individual experiencing isolation in today's urban and unforgiving society. The remaining elements of the identity, including colors and seemingly abstract lines, are derived from magnetic resonance imaging of individuals with mental health problems. The main goal was to develop a visual identity that is simple, appealing, and suitable for all age groups.
Filip graduated from the Vocational School of Fine Arts and Graphic Design in Varaždin, acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to start a career as a graphic designer. Currently, he is in the final stage of my undergraduate studies in Media Design at the University North in Koprivnica. Furthermore, he has completed additional education in Algebra, specializing in graphic design. As a graphic designer, he has over 3 years of experience collaborating with bigger and smaller companies, as well as successful projects with international clients.
