ZGDW 2024 theme signifies our commitment to diversity, equality, creativity, and collaboration in design. We aim to challenge the existing norms, remove barriers, and create a more inclusive and innovative future for design. With this theme, we seek to initiate discussions and promote diversity and inclusivity. The metaphor of the "Glass Ceiling" represents the unseen obstacles that hinder the progress of individuals, particularly those from underrepresented social groups. We aim to establish a platform that embraces diverse perspectives and talents, fostering a more dynamic and innovative design community. Our goal is to challenge the traditional design paradigms. The "glass ceiling" represents the entrenched design norms and practices that stifle creativity and innovation. This theme encourages designers to question and push the boundaries of established standards. We intend to motivate the design community to break new ground and revolutionize how we approach design. ZGDW 2024 theme will be presented through the central installation designed by Tina Marković and Karla Bastalić, an exhibition organised by the design practice Oaza that will show the work of Croatian female designers in cooperation with the Museum of Arts and Crafts, Zagreb. The exhibition will be complemented by lectures by Oaza and Koraljka Vlajo.
