Miranda Herceg transforms ceramics into typography, creating a distinctive visual identity for Studio Pepel.
The designer of the visual identity for the Pepel Ceramics Studio, Miranda Herceg, created a Pepel logo using one of the ceramic techniques in which hand-rolled strips of clay (coils) are used for designing forms, thus transposing a ceramic stroke into a typographic one. The visual identity was applied to the gallery shop and numerous communication and promotional materials. Designer Miranda Herceg gives exceptional attention to the details, textures, surfaces and shape specificities of ceramic objects, which, when designing promotional materials, she presents them as specially designed units, for example as a poster diptych or triptych. The visual identity and visual communication design of Studio Pepel, in addition to contributing to the presentation of outstandingly designed works by ceramist Martina Franić, the founder of Studio Pepel, also positions Studio Pepel as a serious brand among ceramic studios.
Miranda Herceg completed the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Architecture, School of Design, and obtained the title of Master of Design. She works professionally in a wider artistic field from design to film. Numerous design projects for large and small companies, associations, organizations and cultural institutions, as well as self-initiated projects, were presented at juried, independent and collective exhibitions, and awarded by the profession. Special Mention at the 58th Zagreb Salon in 2024, for the work 'Transposition' - ceramics and visual identity of Studio Pepel, co-authored with ceramist Martina Franić, is one of the last awards.
Her author's experimental films were screened at numerous domestic and international film festivals, awarded both by the profession and the audience, of which the Oktavijan award of the Croatian Society of Film Critics for the best experimental film stands out.
She is a member of the executive board of the Zgraf international exhibition, organized by the Graphic Design and Visual Communication Section of ULUPUH. At Zgraf 12, she was a member of the selection committee of the Eduzgraf international exhibition of student works.
She is a member of the Croatian Design Society (HDD) and the Croatian Association of Fine Artists of Applied Arts (ULUPUH).
