A perfect fusion of aesthetics and functionality.
Introducing the Knotted Coat Rack, a ceiling-mounted coat rack featuring 3D-printed knots and rope. Its minimalist and playful design draws inspiration from colourful sailing knots. The 3D-printed knot acts as a hanger for clothes and accessories, giving the appearance of fabric from a distance but revealing its true material upon closer inspection.
This product is part of the Everyday Objects series, a collection of contemporary functional objects designed by Urska and Studio Sadar. All materials and processes used in the production of this item are environmentally sustainable. Each piece is hand-assembled from unique 3D-printed parts and rope sourced from local Slovenian materials. The Knotted Coat Rack is manufactured in Slovenia and is available in various colour combinations.
Urška Sadar, an architect and designer, was motivated by the frequent changes in living space layouts and mobility. This hanger reflects these needs with its compact form, simplicity, and user-friendly design.
The tied coat rack is a component of the MoDuLaR furniture collection, a modular furniture system that constantly evolves to encourage user creativity and promote a positive sense of home. MoDuLaR aims to bring joy, beauty, simplicity, and sustainability to furnishing and living.
Urška Sadar is a multidisciplinary designer currently based in Ljubljana. She holds a master's degree from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Architecture since 2015, and a bachelor's degree from the Fashion and Textiles in Ljubljana since 2017. She also complemented her architectural studies in Denmark at Aalborg Universitet and undertook several educational programs including Fashioning the Future at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion UAL in London and Jewellery Making at the CSM in London, UK.
Before moving back to Ljubljana, Urška lived and worked in London for several years, where she founded Urska Design Studio in December 2019. Her designs are influenced by her background as an architect and fashion designer, reinterpreting traditional crafts and celebrating contemporary aesthetics. Her jewelry and objects have been exhibited in various countries, including the Canary Wharf Gallery in London, Milan Design Week, and M&O in Paris. In 2023, together with Studio Sadar, she designed a Guest of Honour pavilion at the Frankfurt Bookfair. She also works with private clients on bespoke commissions and collaborates with different international practices.
In her words, "In my collections, I express my passion for craftsmanship, developing the designs into playful, functional, contemporary objects, emphasizing the importance of heritage intertwined with the use of new technologies."
