Sculptural solutions for everyday waste, brought to life in vibrant colors.
Through the exploration of materials during the second semester of the Design Studies program, a trash can named Dvoid was created. It is designed for separating dry waste in a work environment and consists of two separate metal prisms that together form a functional whole, but each functions independently. In addition to its primary function of waste storage, the can brings freshness to the space with its sculptural shape and bright colors, which the user can combine independently. This can resists the standard design of everyday "unattractive" items, dedicating special attention and aesthetic value to them.
Lucija Brkić, a 19-year-old from Opatija, is an undergraduate design student at the Design Studio of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb. With a great interest in product design, she is dedicated to immersing herself in every project, seeking new typologies and more sustainable ways of using often overlooked everyday items. Through her design solutions, she aims to provide users with a new way of observing things through interaction, which she believes leads to greater satisfaction in everyday life.
