This is a fashion collection for those who dare to wear bold colors and striking patterns!
A playful collection of women's clothing based on bold color combinations along with a rich use of knitting technology, hand techniques such as crocheting and hand knitting using various yarns. Using the full capacity of the knitting machine, modern knitwear is created. At the same time, she is committed to sustainable design, as the entire garment is made locally and transparently using waste materials such as yarn and buttons. A hyper-local collection, a mixture of already known knitting techniques, but presented through vision of how we can design and wear interesting contemporary knitwear that will last for years. Also included in the collection are several handmade pieces that work in tandem with machine-made pieces, as well as recycled processed pieces made from different waste knitwear patterns assembled.
The Fall/Winter 2023 collection, brings together a range of different graphic patterns, yarn types and knitted structures that carry a strong and bold note throughout the whole knitwear collection.
Jona Bednjanec was born in 1991. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering in Ljubljana, majoring in Textile and Clothing Design. During her studies, Jona Bednjanec participated in the annual student fashion shows as part of the Ljubljana Fashion Week and other projects. She presented her work independently for the first time at the Stylo competition (in cooperation with Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Ljubljana) in Koper, where she also won the first prize for the most innovative, technologically and designally perfect collection. Since then, she has been presenting her work in both international and domestic markets. She won the first prize for her first independent knitwear collection Viva la Balkan, where she drew inspiration from Balkan folklore and presented it at the Stylo competition in Koper (2018). She won the Digi Wow award for her Granny Takes a Trip collection, which she presented independently for the first time at Ljubljana Fashion Week (2019). She also actively participates in various pop-up events, such as Pop-Up Start in cooperation with the Centre for Creativity in Maribor (2019) and pop-up sales exhibitions in cooperation with 5WAY in Milan (2020).
Her main design medium is knitting, through which she expresses herself artistically through colors and patterns as knitting technology.
