The Red Bench is a modern intervention in public space, intertwined with the natural environment and aimed at creating a coherent and clean spatial identity.
The Red Bench is an intervention in the existing public space of the City Plaza Complex in Zagreb. The project's ambition was to create a coherent and distinct spatial identity of the atrium and improve the experience of the employees and visitors.
The bench encircles the existing green island, emphasizing the connection between the surrounding workspace and nature, promoting mental well-being, and offering a refreshing escape. The bold red color of the bench stimulates attention and energy, promoting a sense of dynamism and engagement while the restaurant-inspired booths offer privacy and encourage interaction.
The bench is built up using prefabricated steel segments, mounted on the existing concrete base, ensuring precise execution and efficient use of material.
Studio Sadar is a Ljubljana-based architectural and design practice founded in 2021 by Jure Sadar. The office is working internationally on a range of design, cultural, commercial and residential projects.
Jure Sadar studied architecture at the University of Ljubljana, where he received his master’s degree. During his studies, he attended multiple international workshops related to urban planning and the future of cities, including ‘From Suburb to City’ at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. He previously worked for several international practices, including HHF in Basel, Switzerland and Foster+Partners in London, UK. He was involved in several large-scale projects in the tech and retail sectors in the UK, USA and China.
