A paradoxical application that encourages children to play without using a computer.
In the digital age, the new generation enjoys the benefits of the internet and mobile devices, but excessive use can cause problems such as reduced concentration and anxiety. To address this challenge, students from the Polytechnic University of Zagreb developed an application that reduces screen time and encourages the creative and motor development of children.
Creativerse is an application designed for children from the first to the fourth grade of primary school that promotes creative development through "offline" tasks, such as drawing, cutting, origami, and sculpture making. After selecting a task, the application locks and displays only graphical instructions. Children complete the tasks offline and then scan their work, which is transformed into AR versions, providing additional motivation through a rewards system.
The application uses AR technology, trophies, and points to encourage children to engage in further activities, and its design is carefully crafted to foster creativity. Creativerse can be integrated into school and extracurricular activities, and the parental section allows for tracking the child's development.
Creativerse is not just a tool for entertainment; it is a platform that promotes creative development through an innovative approach that balances between the digital and real worlds.
Paula Jagodić, Vito Vdović, and Jana Kovačević are second-year students of Information Design at the Polytechnic University of Zagreb. They developed the Creativerse project under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Vesna Uglješić in the Digital Product Design course. The project was awarded a certificate for the best design in Central and Eastern Europe at the global competition Design for the Future of Education.
The authors of the Creativerse project have several years of experience in the fields of graphic design, visual communication design, and digital media, as well as in the development of mobile and web applications and websites.
