Be Kuler and say no to food waste!
KULER: kiosk-cooler is a solution created as part of the workshop of the Terrapija 2.0 project as part of the fictitious political party PRV1°, whose goal is to advocate for environmentally friendly and long-term sustainable options. In cooperation with geophysics and meteorology students from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics and environmental engineering students from the Geotechnical Faculty of the University of Zagreb, the program of the PRV1° party is aimed at the welfare of the community by solving the problem of food waste, which is the second biggest cause of global warming. Inspired by the iconic symbol of Ex-Yu industrial design – kiosk K67, KULER presents an innovative party’s proposal solution, i.e. a neighborhood object in the form of a kiosk-refrigerator with solar panels, electric composters, and modern digital technology. With the help of KULER, the intention is to encourage local shops and citizens to donate excess food to reduce waste. Citizens would be encouraged to take action through unconventional informative and educational posters, an application with recipes, advertising leaflets, and smart cards for collecting points and winning various prizes. Special emphasis would be placed on food that is often discarded due to its unappealing appearance and on food that has expired but is still usable. Such alternative solutions, aimed at the well-being of the community, are essential in the fight against adverse climate change.
