A bed transformed into an emotional ecosystem of comfort, interaction, and sustainability

Project

Pillow Lab is a project that rethinks the bed as a space that goes beyond its primary function of sleeping — transforming it into an emotional refuge that encourages spatial interaction, a sense of security, and personal expression. Through modular elements called Trichain and Huggle, bed accessories were developed to respond to needs for touch, pressure, and emotional support. The project uses leftover foam from the manufacturing process, actively contributing to waste reduction and promoting sustainability. It was created in collaboration with Hilding Anders, a leading mattress manufacturer. Within the project, a concept was developed that involves users in creating their own pillows or elements — using simple weaving or assembling methods — fostering a deeper emotional connection with the object, while the process itself becomes an experience of creation and personal memory. This interaction can begin right in the retail space, envisioned as a soft landscape or playground where users actively participate in shaping the product. Pillow Lab redefines comfort through sensory, emotional, and spatial dimensions. It offers more than a physical product — it provides an experience, a feeling of belonging and security through flexible, sustainable, and tactilely rich elements. In this approach, the bed becomes an emotional ecosystem — a space for play, nostalgia, therapy, and personal peace.
