Funky Cut is an inclusive hair clipper that challenges gender stereotypes and encourages playfulness, confidence, and experimentation. The redesign retains full functionality while introducing improved ergonomics, a playful form, and an intuitive LED interface. As a product grounded in circular economy principles, it employs modular construction and sustainable materials. The project explores how design can unify personal and collective experience, empower diversity, and set new rules—serving as both a tool and a symbol for relaxed and creative identity formation.
Ema Kreč is a second-year undergraduate student of Industrial Design at the School of Design, Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb. She completed her high school education as an architectural technician, where she first became fascinated by the geometry of life and the colors that shape it. She immerses herself in her projects with a unique blend of poetry, analysis, and color—believing that this enriches the way we perceive the world around us. Through design, she seeks new perspectives and creates contexts that stimulate thought, feeling, and interaction.
