The experimental book No Exit was created during the third year of undergraduate studies as part of the course Type and Typography 2. It explores the theme of identity as something not built from within but shaped through the gaze and judgment of others. The characters do not suffer physical punishment, their suffering comes from being constantly exposed to the gaze of others, with no possibility of escape. They all share the same position: observed, judged, without exception.
The text remains identical in all three versions, but the layout completely changes the way it is read. Each version places one character at the center, as the sinner, while the other two become secondary and silent. In this way, identity is shown as unstable: a character may be central in one version and fade into the background in another.
The visual structure of the book is based on the idea of a single room. The two passive characters are always placed within the central 50% of the page, while the main character breaks out of that space and intrudes into theirs. Everything is monochrome, further emphasizing the idea of an uncertain and shifting identity. Regardless of who is in focus, they ultimately all share the same position.
