Spatial Illustrations and Narration of the book Stribor's Forest

Project

The project Spatial Illustrations and Narration of the book Stribor's Forest is based on illustrating the work of Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić through a series of murals in public spaces across Zagreb, aiming to repopularize literature, promote education, and visually enrich the city for both local citizens and international visitors. The murals would decorate neglected and unused urban surfaces, enhancing the cityscape and emphasizing the value of Croatian cultural heritage. They are designed to depict key moments from the book and to be visually striking yet simple, sophisticated, and accessible to all age groups.
The project also includes the design of a multilingual mobile application allowing users to locate all murals, read the story, and experience the content interactively. As the main accompanying content, a new edition of Šuma Striborova is planned, featuring original illustrations that match the visual style of the murals. In addition to the book, a series of souvenirs has been conceptualized to further contribute to spreading Zagreb’s cultural heritage and creating a new tourist attraction.
