The project explores mold as the main medium in design, researched through a series of experiments. The developed tool is intentionally imprecise, putting the process in the foreground while the results serve as documentation and archive. The outcome is unpredictable, introducing a new aesthetic and emotional model. The project is titled Biographics/Biografike. Biographics use uncontrolled mold under the direction of the designer. The synergy between designer and mold tells an unusual story through photographs, showing a process of mutual learning. The purpose is to create living graphics that encourage a flexible view of beauty, generating compositions, typography, colors, and narratives that question mold as a new material. Experimentation provided knowledge that enabled more complex graphic production.
A subtopic is music, which has historically been fertile creative ground, with album cover design evolving alongside genres. Music played a key role during the process, influencing the growth of microorganisms and giving them a unique visual identity in Petri dishes. In the end, mold, designer, and music enter into symbiosis, creating their own biosphere reflected in the final results.
