Ancestors & Descendants is a self-initiated project that raises awareness of the threat to our natural environment, points to each person’s responsibility, and calls for action to protect nature and preserve the basic conditions for a good and quality life, keeping in mind our descendants — the generations of young people to come. The project was created for Nairobi Design Week 2025 and was exhibited in March 2025. The umbrella theme of the event was: We are the Ancestors.
Three basic motifs: the ocean, animals, and flora — accompanied by folk sayings or quotes from famous public figures related to the survival of the human species (in English and Swahili) pose a simple question: What next?
The designs can be realized in various forms such as posters, stickers, or applied to different wearable objects made from recycled or environmentally friendly materials — T-shirts, canvas bags, reusable metal water bottles, and more.
