The term mater originates from the Latin word māter meaning “mother”. Every Mater is a mother, but the reverse is not always true. Mater is an online portal that offers expert, in-depth, and relevant content on motherhood and parenting, a platform for knowledge, experience, and real-life stories. Its uniqueness lies in tackling topics often overlooked by others, opening space for honest conversations about the challenges of parenting that most platforms choose not to highlight. Unlike common words like “mom,” “mommy,” or “mother,” the term mater describes a strong, confident woman whose presence leaves a lasting impression on everyone around her. She is powerful and determined, yet gentle, caring, playful, and inspiring, a blend of strength and warmth. The visual identity of the Mater portal strongly reflects these multidimensional characteristics. The goal is to create a recognizable and striking identity that offers visitors a rich and inspiring experience. The logo design evokes the look and feel of high-fashion magazines and portals. Its minimalist approach allows for high adaptability to the portal’s layout and easy integration with different topics, while maintaining an elegant and modern visual style.
Josipa Galić was born and raised in Slavonia. After high school, she enrolled at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Graphic Arts. During her studies, she worked in the graphic industry and, with mentorship, developed a strong affinity for designing visual identities. Immediately after earning her master’s degree in graphic technology, she founded the Može studio. The guiding idea was independence and freedom in creating visual solutions for carefully chosen clients. Through continuous education and keeping up with trends in design, business, and marketing, she has established her position in the field. For the past seven years, she has successfully run the Može studio and collaborated with other independent professionals. Her main focus is on brand development, from naming to the realization of visual solutions, and in 2023 she completed a UX design program at Algebra. Over the years, the studio has developed a client portfolio covering various industries, from small entrepreneurs to renowned clients such as Reviso, Valamar, 404 agency, Hug Your Life, Medial, Kap4, and many others. Her unique approach lies in connecting with clients and recognizing their needs, transforming them into functional visual solutions.
