Umaki is a line of raw sauces inspired by global culinary traditions, created to bring umami-rich flavors into everyday cooking. The name merges “umami,” the Japanese word for savory taste, with “umak,” the Croatian word for sauce—bridging East and West in both meaning and flavour. The visual identity draws on Japanese simplicity and culinary symbolism, while the label design features reinterpretations of national flags, each tied to a sauce’s origin. This graphic solution aids recognition and celebrates global diversity through color and form. The logotype reflects the Japanese roots of the name, while typography and layout remain bold and structured. The team used Stroy Mono, a locally designed typeface, to add both character and utility. The packaging system was developed to work across jars, multipacks, and gift boxes, with attention to shelf presence and brand storytelling. Social media assets were also designed to reinforce the brand’s message: local ingredients, global attitude.
