Created for the European Design Festival 2024 exhibition in Naples, this project responds to the theme Cult of Death by shifting the focus from death itself to how society treats living artists. At its center is Tin Ujević – one of the most significant Croatian poets of the 20th century, whose modernist voice helped shape the region’s literary identity. During his lifetime, he often lived on the margins, only to be widely honored after his death. His quote, “While I’m alive, you won’t give me a place to live, but when I die, you’ll give me a whole street,” becomes the visual and conceptual foundation of the poster. The work expands through a digital layer: a QR code leads to a website featuring a map of Croatia showing every street named after Ujević. The site also includes his poem A Note on the Threshold (in translation) and an essay by writer Marko Pogačar, exploring the cultural phenomenon of posthumous recognition and the need to value artists while they are still with us.
