The packaging design and branding for the Ruke distillery are based on the concepts of community, collaboration, and visual clarity. The front label is minimalist, focusing on essential information and the product’s identity. The back label, facing the inside of the bottle, carries graphic content—it is variable, removable, and designed as a collectible art object. It is held in place by a red silicone wristband, which also serves as the brand’s signature feature. For the first label series, artist Nikica Jurković created a collage used for the back labels of various products (dry gin, blood orange gin, fig liqueur). Viewed through the liquid inside the bottle, the illustration becomes distorted, adding an extra visual layer. Through its modularity and potential for collaboration, the label design enables a dynamic visual identity that evolves and grows with the brand.
NJI3 are Dina Milovčić and Franka Tretinjak, a Croatia-based design duo with a particular interest in graphic design, illustration, and motion graphics. They mostly work with cultural organizations, publishers, and artists. Their work explores ways to support clients’ communication needs while maintaining a sense of play and wit, nurturing an approach that includes experimentation, open-mindedness, trust, and collaboration. Some of their clients include the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb, the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, the Croatian Designers Association, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, the Croatian National Theatre, and others. They both teach at the School of Design, Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb.
