Project

The visual identity of Women’s Film Festival, ŽFF, is based on combining the contrasting traits often associated with women. The logo merges typographic opposites: a serif “ž” with a sharp diacritic that cuts through space, expressing rebellion and strength, and a subtle, contemporary ligature “ff” symbolizing connection and unity. The lower horizontal line of the “ž” resembles a bicep and fist, referencing the iconic We can do it! poster. The primary color is a vivid, almost pure magenta, paired with a warm white counterpoint. This color combination also reflects the interplay of tenderness and strength. The key visual, based on Woman in a Large Hat by Dutch painter Caesar van Everdingen, dominates with a direct gaze that captivates the viewer. A film strip is incorporated into the design, wrapping around the brim of the hat to evoke a traditional film reel box.
