Experimental Book

Project

Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller is an autobiographical novel from 1934, known for its explicit language and raw, unfiltered depiction of everyday life. The guiding question for this project was: what would a book look like if it matched this uncompromising approach—without euphemisms, beautification, or censorship?
The result is an experimental book composed of detachable chapters in a pocket format for ease of carrying. The entire book is designed to feel like a work in progress — from how the chapters separate, to handwritten footnotes and the absence of pagination.
Paper plays a vital role: dirty, old papers of various weights, textures, and colors are randomly arranged throughout the layout, linking to the author’s creative process, where any available surface can become a sketch, note, or idea.
