Photobook: identity is a hand-assembled photobook showcasing a selection of student works created for the course Art and Media Photography within the undergraduate Media Design program at University North. The approach does not follow rigid paradigms but opens space for multiple theoretical perspectives, exploring the meaning of the photographic image and its impact on individuals and the community.
The project examines an interactive, experimental relationship with the photographic medium and gesture, with a special emphasis on the ontological properties beneath the visual layer. Identity is the central theme and key motif, regardless of topic and context. The design incorporates inserted transparent and red sheets, allowing viewers to intentionally reveal connections between photography and design, their interaction, and influence on perception. The photographs are carefully sequenced to follow the narrative of each theme, with student quotes highlighting specific subtopics.
Viktorija Gurović born in 1991 in Zagreb. In 2020, she completed a graphic design course – digital publishing specialist – at the College of Algebra in Zagreb. She works in marketing and design in the private sector and has been studying Media Design at University North since 2021. She actively participates in multimedia projects with a focus on socially and environmentally responsible design.
Nadja Orkić born in 2002 in Osijek. After finishing III Gymnasium in Osijek, she enrolled at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Art History and Pedagogy), and in 2021 also began studying Media Design at University North. Since 2022, she has been working as a freelance graphic designer on visual communication projects, focusing on ecological and cultural themes.
Nadja Orkić was born in 2002, in Osijek. After graduating from III Gymnasium in Osijek, she enrolled in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, majoring in art history and pedagogy. In 2021, she began her undergraduate studies in Media Design at University North. Since 2022, she has participated in various multimedia projects and workshops related to visual communications design. Her work emphasizes environmentally engaged themes and cultural activities. She has exhibited in several group exhibitions domestically and in one abroad.
