The name Litterarii comes from the Latin ludus litterarius meaning elementary school, and rarus meaning rare or special, perfectly reflecting the winery’s philosophy and its wines. In the cellar of the Nespeš manor, where wine has been produced since 1974, tradition continued even when the building served as a school. Litterarii merges this educational and winemaking heritage with the owner’s personality, connecting generations of teachers with the enduring viticultural presence in Nespeš.
The label design is inspired by school documents written with a fountain pen. The lines on the label resemble old notebooks, while the wine’s name is written in a typeface derived from handwritten letters. Accidental ink stains symbolize the artistic process of creation.
Maja Bagić Barić is an art director with over 20 years of experience in visual arts, graphic design, and advertising. In 2005, she founded the graphic design studio KO:KE creative farm. The studio works on various visual communication projects, assembling a team of experts according to each project’s needs. Her work has been recognized with numerous international awards, including D&AD, Red Dot, Young Guns – Art Directors Club NY, Type Directors Club NY, Pentawards, and REBRAND100® Global Awards.
