Working on the Tabu app is more than just a design task . It’s about developing a tool that helps professionals recognize their own value and negotiate for fair working conditions. As a UX/UI designer, Paula Grubiša focuses on clarity, simplicity, and trust, since salary discussions are often taboo and available data is unreliable or speculative. The app is still in its early stages; a first functional “zero” version has been developed, but the most demanding work lies ahead: building a tool that truly supports users in making everyday career decisions. Tabu provides insight based on real salary data from over 27,000 anonymous, secure, and regularly updated entries. It empowers professionals, including designers, to understand what they should earn, when to ask for a raise, and if they are being underpaid. The app’s design supports users through every step; from entering data to comparing salaries and benefits. The platform is simple, neutral, and offers a sense of control and security. In a world where prices rise faster than wages, Tabu is a tool that returns the power of knowledge to the hands of workers and the author is proud to contribute to a project that has such a meaningful impact on the community.
Paula Grubiša is a UX/UI designer with over six years of experience in digital design. She graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Zagreb and further specialized in UX design at Algebra College in Zagreb. She began her career in 2019 at Bornfight, working in design, content, and Webflow development. Since 2024, she has been actively involved in the development of the Tabu app as a UX/UI designer and content creator. Most of her time is now dedicated to shaping the Tabu experience — from designing the interface and digital materials to developing creative campaigns and marketing initiatives. She is also the founder of the Design Book Club, a community of over 100 designers that regularly organizes discussions and knowledge exchange. In 2025, she became the Country Manager for Croatia at the Interaction Design Foundation, the world's largest online design school, known for its collaborations with IBM, Adobe, MIT, and Cambridge.
