Bugged Out is a project that explores the psychological roots of discomfort and fear of insects, aiming to challenge the negative perception often associated with them. Through research, a scale from 1 to 10 was developed to quantify levels of fear based on specific insect traits, such as sharp legs, hairy bodies, or unusual eyes. The project takes the form of a web application where users participate in an interactive quiz. Based on their answers, an AI-generated 3D hybrid bug is created, visually combining the most fear-inducing features. The project utilizes various AI tools including Deep Research, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Meshy, to simulate realistic insect elements and blend scientific analysis with emotional engagement.
Bugged Out reveals that discomfort stems from perception rather than the insects themselves, encouraging users to rethink their fears through digital interaction.
