The multimedia exhibition Crown of our city/work is a visual presentation of research on the effects of the long-term implementation of the City of Novi Sad’s Cultural Strategy.
The exhibition comprises eight pavilions that follow the chapters of a printed publication – from mapping the city’s cultural needs and strategy implementation, to institutions, (built) heritage, European Capital of Culture, UNESCO digital capital, and the legacy of key points in the strategy. Visitors move through a space designed to be clear, inviting, and visually engaging.
Design decisions reference the visual language developed by Novi Sad ECoC, expanding it into autonomous modules, each with its own message and narrative. All pavilions are connected by a turquoise blue thread – a timeline matching the color of the city flag – visually linking the exhibition while forming an immersive environment with multiple vistas, both of the exhibition and the surrounding Katolička porta square, in the heart of Novi Sad.
The marketing agency Kuća Čuvarkuća from Novi Sad, a long-time partner of the City’s Office for Culture, developed the publication Crown of our city/work and invited the author to contribute by designing the exhibition space.
Miljena Vučković is a scenic designer actively engaged in stage and production design, as well as in urban and light installations. She is also a researcher, thinker, and writer on spatial practices.
She serves as vice president of Scenatoria, an organization that activates built heritage through cultural production in endangered heritage locations. Her main focus lies in the perception and presentation of space, its mutability and limits. Miljena believes that continuous education is essential for professional development.
