The author believes every space should tell a story—one that balances beauty, purpose, and soul. This 100 m² apartment in Siget, Zagreb, reflects that design ethos. Designed for a family of four, the home was transformed from its original, traditional layout into a timeless, open-plan space that merges form and function. Influenced by Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian warmth, the design prioritizes calm, clarity, and connection.
Custom-made furniture was essential to maximize every square millimetre—built-in solutions are shown in the floor plans—providing integrated storage that enhances everyday living. The process brought challenges: aging infrastructure, strict façade regulations, slower workflows compared to Dubai, and sourcing materials locally for the first time. Yet each obstacle led to a thoughtful compromise.
The final styling phase celebrates Croatian culture through bespoke artworks made from materials salvaged from the original build, honouring the home’s past while embracing a refined and intentional present.
Born and raised in Dubai, the author was shaped by a city rich in design, culture, and innovation. With experience across various roles, she developed a deep understanding of the design process—from concept to execution. Her style blends understated elegance with functionality, using natural textures, timeless forms, and thoughtful detail. She creates spaces that feel personal, purposeful, and emotionally resonant. She believes great design is not about trends, but about longevity, clarity, and comfort. Each project is an opportunity to tell a story and leave a part of herself while reflecting the lives of those who inhabit the space. Whether residential or commercial, she approaches each task with consistency, empathy, and creative efficiency. She is passionate about growing as a designer, embracing challenges, and refining her craft. For her, design is more than a career—it is a way to create environments that elevate daily life and meaningfully connect people to their spaces.
