The ZGDW AWARD is an international design award presented by an expert jury across six categories.
Since 2017, we have been presenting design awards, and from 2020, under the name ZGDW AWARD. This award is distinctive in Croatia as it welcomes participants from all around the globe.
The top finalists will be showcased to the public at an exhibition held during Zagreb Design Week, taking place from 9 to 14 September 2025, at Jadran Film. The jury will deliberate and choose the top three works in each of the six categories. The highly anticipated announcement of the winners and the grand award ceremony will be a pivotal part of the festival’s opening on 9 September.
Professor Zlatko Kapetanović, MSc, is a Croatian industrial designer. He is a retired professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Architecture, School of Design. He graduated from the California Institute of the Arts, School of Design, in 1976, and obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Zagreb in the same year. From 1978 to 1984 and again from 1986 to 1990, he was employed at Končar – Electrical Engineering Institute (ETI), Design Department, while between 1984 and 1986 he worked at the Zagreb Factory of Calculating Machines. He received the Vladimir Nazor Award as a member of ETI’s Design Department and has been a member of the Croatian Designers’ Association since its establishment.
Siniša Sudar is a Croatian visual communications designer. He founded Studio Sudar in 2005. He graduated from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Architecture, School of Design, in 2002. From 2001 to 2006 he was employed at Grey, Bruketa & Žinić, and Brandoctor, where he held the position of Art Director. He has been awarded numerous international prizes and distinctions.
Adam Johnston is a Scottish designer based between the United Kingdom and Spain. Influenced by his international background, he established his own practice in 2024 after working as an industrial and interior designer for several AD100 studios. Combining an interest in both craft and industrial processes, he works on everyday objects, furniture, and interiors for clients in multiple countries.
Wolfgang Natlacen is a Swiss multidisciplinary artist whose practice merges life and art into an inseparable whole. Since 2015, he has been president of the Velasca football club. A gravedigger, self-proclaimed candidate for mayor of a village of 525 inhabitants, filmmaker, and photographer, he draws on the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk.
Katalina Silva is a Mexican visual communications designer and transborder designer, co-founder and Creative Director of Enigma Creative and Tijuana Design Week. She co-authored the proposal that led to San Diego–Tijuana’s designation as World Design Capital 2024 and was Designer-in-Residence at the UCSD Design Lab. Since 2014, she has led CreativeMornings Tijuana and serves on the Advisory Board of the Don Norman Design Award and the International Council of Design. She co-founded Here and There, a design residency between Mexico and the United States.
