The Neo50's collection is a nostalgic journey through fashion eras, emphasizing the elegance and femininity of the 1950s. It follows the designer’s previous collection 50s'Athleisure. Inspiration was drawn from timeless silhouettes of the era, cinched waists, full skirts and sophisticated details that celebrated the female figure and refinement. However, this collection is not merely a homage to the past, but a reinterpretation and dialogue between then and now.
By combining vintage aesthetics with elements of contemporary wear, the collection offers a modern take on classic fashion. The cuts are adapted to today’s lifestyle, practical yet romantic, infused with a touch of glamour that evokes the spirit of a more elegant time. The blending of opposites creates hybrids that carry the atmosphere of the past through the lens of contemporary aesthetics. Modern materials and techniques were used while retaining a retro feel through details such as corsets, voluminous sleeves and handcrafted embellishments.
The collection’s goal is not only to present fashion but also to invite a slowing down and rediscovery of the beauty of dressing. It aims to evoke emotion, awaken memories and create a connection between generations. This collection is a bridge between yesterday and today, between classic and innovation. The past is not copied but reinterpreted and lives on in a contemporary spirit.
Matea Ribičić has a master’s degree in textile and fashion design and is the founder of Matee creative studio, established in 2020. After completing her studies, she dedicated her work to developing her own fashion brand with a clear goal, to connect the fashion of the past and present, conveying the spirit of different generations through clothing.
In her design, she explores the relationship between past and present, basing her fashion expression on the reinterpretation of classic silhouettes, with an emphasis on the aesthetics of the 1950s, combined with a modern and functional approach to dressing. Matee creative studio embraces the philosophy of slow fashion, handcrafted production, local manufacturing and thoughtful design focused on sustainability and quality.
Each piece carries a personal story and is created as a blend of emotion, functionality and attention to detail. Special focus is placed on coats, outerwear and unique fashion accessories that emphasize individuality and longevity. Through her work, Matea aims to create garments that communicate identity, connect generations and transcend passing trends.
She finds inspiration in archival fashion forms, architecture and everyday life, striving to create garments that evoke emotions and build a lasting bond between the wearer and the clothing. Matee creative studio symbolizes a fusion of past fashion interwoven with today’s way of dressing, creating new hybrid forms and bringing a sense of timelessness into the contemporary context.
