Shared realities are made up of everyday, often intimate moments that easily go unnoticed, yet they form the foundation of our common human experience. At the center of many of these moments is food. It is far more than a basic need: food is a cultural symbol, a keeper of tradition, a form of personal expression, and perhaps most importantly, a powerful connector between people. My submission for this competition is a food photography workshop designed to explore how we can use photography to capture and share our own reality. Through a single image, we can tell a story about who we are, where we come from, the habits and traditions we carry, and the emotions that tie us to others. In today’s world, we live in overlapping realities; physical, digital, personal, and collective. Food photography has become a space where these worlds converge. A photo of a homemade soup, a quick weekday breakfast, or a cake baked for a family celebration doesn’t just show food, it tells a story. It shares a moment, a mood, and a set of values. In sharing images of food, we also share a part of ourselves. This workshop focuses not only on technique and aesthetics, but also on storytelling. Participants will learn how to use food photography to capture what brings us together, shared meals, cherished recipes, daily habits, spontaneous moments, and the warmth of home. The goal is to help participants see food as a reflection of lived experience, both personal and universal.
