Center of St. Nikola was named after the former church and monastery complex where it is located. The existing complex was built in the 13th century in the Gothic style, and there are interventions from the late Baroque period, and since St. Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors, sailors, fishermen, travellers and merchants, the centre was given an appropriate name and excellent location. In addition to the exhibition with a changing permanent exhibition, the Center of St. Nikola becomes the new home of the International Institute for Underwater Archeology in Zadar. It consists of a young, enthusiastic and expert team that follows trends, and through international conferences and seminars educates world-class underwater archaeologists, conservators, shipbuilders and many others. The new interior and visual identity are inspired by the synergy of opposites that makes up everything they do at the institute. And also in the very setting of the exhibition we read both old and new, light and darkness, lightness and heaviness, historical heritage and its contemporary interpretation. The setting invites you to adventure and research, to experience the world of underwater archeology through it.
