Jakša Matošić

Harfist

Project Client: Music school of Josip Hatze
YEAR: 2022

After two years of waiting, the young musicians couldn’t wait to play live for the audience. As the author of all the visuals of the Days of Hatze manifestation, I needed a scene that is both the joy of playing music and a cry for freedom. If the strings of this harp remind the viewer of a birds cage even for a moment, the musician’s hand already turns into a firebird that is completely free to soar above all restrictions, without fear or boundaries. The work is a vector illustration based on a photo of my own hand made for the recognisable background of a series of different posters/concert program booklets, online announcements, a banner on the facade and t-shirts. The titles of the programs changed like a temporary golden tattoo on the upper arm –  a bird, which admittedly, got a French cap for the Evening of French Authors!
