ZGDW UNIVERSITY AND SCHOOL EXHIBITION
The Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka
The Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka offers undergraduate and graduate study programmes in Applied Arts and Fine Arts Pedagogy. Objects for Body and Space is an interdisciplinary course which challenges the relations and interactions between the body, space, personality, aesthetics, and the natural and urban environment by using all existing media and materials. The materials which are used during studies are sustainable, recycled, natural, and disposed materials. In the classes of the elective course Glass, students are encouraged to think and develop creativity by mastering the skills and expertise in shaping glass objects. At this year’s Zagreb Design Week, the Academy is presenting student works created as a part of the Body Space project. Students had to acknowledge the relation of the body to objects in our everyday surroundings, shaping our personality and existence, as well as the way we experience our environment. The experience of time is a very important part of accomplishing the work, as their creation was inspired by the analysis of time spent with the chosen object. During this time, those objects have gained emotional value and became guides towards new living spaces and settings. All works were created from recycled, found, natural and sustainable materials.
