UTO a.k.a. Unidentified T-shirt Object is a collective name for the accessories made by Lala Tóth. She combines ancient ways of craftsmanship with advanced technology. The resulting statue-like objects, the UTOs, convert ordinary T-shirts by using contemporary jewelry as a functional yet aesthetic tool of transformation.
Originating in Budapest, UTOs were born with no intention to save the planet but to offer a sustainable alternative to everyday overconsumption. By implementing the regenerative design discipline, UTO introduces a new interpretation of the T-shirts you already own.
Every piece of jewelry is made from plant-based resin and delivered in individually grown mycelium mushroom packaging with a booklet manual. Created for independent human beings, UTO is here to help them to make a statement.
Unidentified T-Shirt Object was invented in 2022 by designer Lala Tóth. She worked in the field of fashion (including the brands Nanushka and Constanca Entrudo) for more than 4 years. After the pandemic, she decided to live out her passion for textile art as being an independent artist. UTO is a project she always wanted to start, a business where the areas of fine art and fashion meet, providing a financial basis for her other art activities. In the works related to the UTO collections, Lala works together with Boldizsár Tóth, a graphic designer, and other Budapest-based creators and artists, thus making the process a total artistic collaboration.
