The illustrator's corner is a mobile unit with which the Slovenian Illustration Center presents and offers original Slovenian illustration, both in the country and abroad. The mobile equipment was developed by designers/architects Sara Badovinac Zabret and Sara Škarica. The modular and adaptable system enables different ways of exhibiting and selling illustrations. Traveling exhibition elements are designed as collapsible stands on which protected illustrations are carefully displayed.
The main challenge of the task was how to protect and at the same time offer the illustrations for exhibition and sale. Works hung on hangers and housed in archival UV protection foils with passe-partouts are ready for immediate sale.
Each metal frame has drawers that store additional works by the author. The upper side of the drawer serves as a base for displaying sales items. Modular frames with a flexible design enable the display of various contents in a fun and innovative way. They can be dressed up in movable panels with shelves that become book stands at literary events. The elements are free-standing and designed to be away from the frame of the space. The shape of the elements and the selected materials are harmonized with the identity of the Illustration Center and in this way expand recognition.
Sara&Sara are a design tandem made up of architects and designers Sara Badovinac and Sara Škarica. They design various products and spatial installations. For the purposes of exhibiting illustrations, they designed a mobile exhibition unit "Illustrator's corner", which serves for the presentation, exhibition and sale of selected works by authors both in the country and abroad. The exhibition system will also be presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, where numerous Slovenian illustrators will be presented. Sara & Sara are shortlisted for the international award Termoli - architecture and design in the Macte museum. Sara Badovinac is an interdisciplinary designer, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, and received her master's degree with honors from the Domus Academy design studio in Milan. She is the co-founder of the design collective Studio Prapra. For her work, she received a number of national and international awards, including the Brumen awards and the "Made in Slovenia" mark of excellence. Sara Škarica is an architect, graduated with honors from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana. Since 2019, she runs her own architectural firm and successfully collaborates with various experts and independent architects, with whom she has won numerous domestic and international awards in architectural competitions. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Croatian Chamber of Architects.
