Self-initiated lighting project, created during the pandemic. A piece from a group of light objects designed to create an athmosphere of peace and comfort at home. The name of the object is a reference to Haruki Murakami's famous novel; about the search for love, connection and warmth, and "orbiting" around the object of desire. The word sputnik means companion, fellow traveller.
The object was meant to be exactly that: its pleasant light and soft form create the feeling of a lantern of good wishes and emotions in difficult times. The construction of the shade is the result of a desire to experiment with veneer laminated to paper, and veneer strip with glue - industrial semi-products that are commonly used to cover doors and furniture parts.
