«The Power of Words» is a thought and emotion-provoking interactive installation showing the power of words. The audience is prompted to use letter boards to «write» 1 word that describes them the best on one wall of the gallery and let it soak in. Notice how it makes you feel, and how your body reacts. Usually, it's a positive word ... a word we chose to tell ourselves. Taking a photo and sharing is optional.
Now the person is prompted to use the letter boards to «write» 1 word that hurt them the most on the opposite gallery wall. This word will probably come from someone else. Let it soak in. Notice how it makes you feel, and how your body reacts. Facing this word will raise completely different emotions.
It only takes 1 word to change the way we feel. Now imagine this multiplied through elaborate stories we listen to and tell (to ourselves). That's the power of words, yet people tend to use them recklessly, forgetting that words can lift us up or take us down, heal us, or hurt us. Choose your words carefully.
The idea of hanging big letter boards on the wall instead of writing it on a piece of paper gives the word even more power making the face-off even more real, while posing as wall art.
