Melt Zagreb – Sharing stories. Melt is a place with a phenomenal gelato that melts your worries away & is a perfect spot for gluten-free healthy brunch. But it’s never just about food, is it? It’s about self-care, both in terms of eating healthy and nourishing food with no hard-to-pronounce ingredients, as well as in terms of socialising. With Melt, food is the communication starter.
With the mission to promote sustainability, and inclusivity while still serving high-quality food - a warm integrated system of visual & verbal identity was created.
The visual identity communicates it all, from the creation to the serving of food to the social components and experiences that result from it. The logotype consists of letters that have a “melting” effect which reflects and mixes these experiences. Visitors can notice a variety of ingredients through engaging illustrations that can be combined as patterns, which carry values of wide application & easy implementation both for the project production of all on and off-screen materials, as well as interior & entrance design. As the colour palette comes from the meals they provide, Melt’s main colour is blueberry-inspired because of its strong antioxidant properties. In addition to conveying a sense of seriousness and quality origin of food, the blueberry colour symbolizes business and encourages thinking about possible expansions to further locations.
Ivana Bačanek was born in Zagreb. At the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, she received the title of Master of Visual Communications Design with great honor in 2019. As an undergraduate student, she won an Annual Award for Arena Zagreb’s visual identity and signage project in 2015/2016. During her studies, Ivana participated in several foreign and domestic competitions and showed interest in visual identity and typography projects. In 2016, she won the competition for the visual identity of the University of Rijeka Foundation. She was a finalist of the Taiwan International Students Design Competition 2016. In 2019, her proposal for the symbol for 30 years of School of Design was selected. A major focus of her work is on inclusive design, typography and the identity design of ethical brands. Ivana lives and works in Zagreb as part of VIDI studio for visual communications.
