Džaaks is a brand that produces leather and recycled leather bags and accessories. Its products’ main characteristic is that they are practical, light, wearable, and a little (not too much) eccentric. All leather backpacks and bag models feature simple geometric shapes, even though occasionally they venture out of the usual when it comes to shapes and color patterns. I give special attention to small accents of strong color on a dark background which makes the model wearable and appropriate for all occasions, but still keeping that touch that precludes simplicity and ”plainness”.
A special product line of Džaaks is Reincarnations, bags made of recycled leather. The process of production of Reincarnations is longer and more complicated because they are made from well-preserved parts of pre-used leather garments. I assemble these preserved irregularly shaped parts into collages and then into bags. Reincarnations are unique and completely different. One of the first Džaaks products was a tote bag with a hole in place of a strap, made of waterproof material in black with various images. It is also the most sought-after Džaak and signature product.
My name is Ivana Radić and I am a painter, puppeteer, and designer born in Mostar. I have lived in Zagreb for three years where I started my own brand Džaaks, making bags, backpacks, and accessories made of leather and recycled leather. I lived in Mostar until I was 40, where I worked at the Puppet Theatre, first as an actress and later as a set and puppet designer. I also acted as the theater director for four years. I majored in painting at the Faculty of Visual Arts in Široki Brijeg, in the class of Professor Ante Kajinić. After graduating I mainly worked with visual aesthetics in theater, such as set, costume, and puppet design, as well as illustration. Inspired by motherhood, I started a series of illustrations called Mater, which I keep on doing.
