CULTURAL FLOW

As a bilingual person, my family speaks and mixes two languages. Bulgarian and Turkish. I have got my inspiration from 'mixing' the languages and chose to research the Bulgarian and Turkish traditional folklore costumes, and did extensive research on costumes, customs, and languages.

I was most impressed by the multi-layering and the colorfulness, which became the main elements in my collection. Mixing two folklores in a modern and avant-garde way, using elements and colors from both folklore costumes, became my basis for custom digital print and my final design collection.

Author

Edzhe Dervish is a 24-year-old fashion design student at New Bulgarian University Sofia, Bulgaria. Skilled in print design, e-commerce & digital marketing, production, garment construction, moulage, Adobe Procreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. She worked in the Activewear factory 'Richtex' and Luxury leather goods brand 'Neri Karra', and interned for five months at the avant-garde fashion brand 'Minoar'. Since 2019 she has been attending fashion design courses in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In May 2023 she won first place at 'IDEAMODA Fashion Design Competition'.
