Brid focuses on so-called functional decor, objects between design, function and decoration. These objects are deprived of aesthetics and are designed to fulfill their function. No interior can be without them - they quietly support everyday life. The project will expand with diverse objects - primarily listening to the users' needs, which enables an extremely dynamic and unexpected approach.
All items have the same design intention - emphasizing the beauty of natural materials, simple lines and shape with changing the use possibilities. The careful craftsmanship of local artisans celebrates the beauty of artistic expression and unexpected accents that reveal the user. The philosophy 'between less & more' best reveals the goal of Brid - function & décor, minimal & eclectic, quiet & loud.
Brid started with front handles. Outlines of simple geometric shapes - circles and rectangles are emphasized by the logic of natural materials. Stone with its porous structure and wood with their rings give the objects recognizable aesthetics. The round handles in different wood finishes are designed to be used in two positions - straight and tilted. With this, it can be a purely decorative object on the wall with interesting shadows, handles on the fronts or hooks for hanging objects. The rectangular handles come in two sizes. Their tectonics are softened by the organic and porous structure of the stone. The simple cross-section ensures optimal use.
Brid is a collective established by the collaboration of two architects from Zagreb, Tina Biloglav and Mia Andrašević Vukelić, whose professional focus is on designing and designing interior spaces. The collective was founded at the beginning of 2023 as a platform for dealing with highly functional daily objects that can be found in every interior, but they lack design and attention to the details.
