U_OČI is a spatial installation of works by students of the School of Design at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Zagreb, in the academic years 20/21 and 21/22. It is showing the diversity of tasks, processes and approaches during the total five years of education. Visitors have the opportunity to peek into the holistic world of design as seen by new generations of design students. Striking visuals attract attention, underline, emphasize, and publicly speak about recent topics that students have critically dealt with in the past post-covid year, critically questioning quality of life of both the individual and the community.
The exhibition functions as an entirety simultaneously present on two locations: in the central area of Zagreb Design Week at the Academy of Fine Arts, and at the School of Design Gallery as a partner location.
The School of Design Gallery was founded in 2014 and in its first phase of existence functioned exclusively as an exhibition space for presentations of student works created around the subjects of industrial design and visual communications, as well as photography, scenography, typography and illustration.
After moving into a new space during 2018, the program was expanded to include exhibitions of wider social significance with the aim of introducing the public to what future professional designers research during their education. The results have exceptional national and international evaluation, as well as exhibitions that present a different curatorial practices and the exchange of experiences of domestic and foreign higher education institutions in the design field.
