Zagreb Design Week is Croatia’s largest design event. The theme for the twelfth edition focuses on exploring various realities. It emphasises the complexities of global challenges and the crucial role designers play in examining and questioning these Shared Realities.
Shared reality refers to the collective experience of perceiving the world in similar ways. ZGDW aims to explore how design can bridge the gaps between individual and collective experiences, human innovation and ecological balance, diverse cultures, and a shared future. At its core, Shared Realities theme is a call to rethink design as a collaborative, inclusive, and regenerative force that reflects the complexities of our interconnected world. Zagreb Design Week 2025 will further explore these shared realities as a platform for raising critical questions and generating real solutions to the challenges of our time. All participants will be invited to actively collaborate in creating a better, shared future. Rather than merely improving existing solutions, Shared Realities seeks completely new paradigms. Designers are encouraged to break away from established patterns and develop progressive methods that address the needs of future generations and diverse groups of people. This includes rethinking materials, production processes, and digital tools, as well as how design communicates with users, creates experiences, and fosters positive change overall.
